Practical tools for managing workplace stress

We recently hosted a workshop at ASML focusing on practical tools for staying calm, focused and effective in high-pressure work environments.

The session started with the science behind performance and what happens to our bodies under pressure. Participants explored the difference between the fight-or-flight response and the state that supports calm and recovery. They were also introduced to conscious breathing and how it can help regulate the nervous system.

This was followed by a simple 3-minute reset, including box breathing, giving participants a practical technique they could use after intense work, before a presentation, or during a difficult conversation.

We also looked at cultural differences in the workplace through an assumption-audit exercise. Participants reflected on how differences in communication, trust and feedback can sometimes lead to misunderstandings, and what these can mean for collaboration and trust within a team.

The workshop brought these different topics together, with a focus on building trust, recovering from pressure and working better as a team - small, practical tools that can make a difference in how we work together as a team..
